- Make sure you keep your passport and visa in a safe place on you. These are the most important documents you have, so keep them secure before anything else.

- Get to know the country you want to visit. The Consular information sheets should be essential reading.
- Learn basic rules and laws of the country you are paying a visit to.
- Be aware of the customs of the countries you’ll visit.
- Be Respectful of the country and its people.
- Make a duplicate copy of your important travel papers.
- If you’re going to be in a foreign country a while learn where the US Embassy is in case of a problem.
- If you have kids with you keep a photo of your child in your wallet – just in case you loose them in a crowded area
- Keep an extra copy of birth certificates, photo id, travel reservations, airline tickets
These are reminders you have to carry with you whenever you go traveling outside the U.S. Traveling is fun indeed but could turn it into a disaster at worse or problems at the least if you ignore some of the above tips.
