Summer Vacation in Aruba: A Caribbean Tropical Paradise
Are you thinking about a summer vacation that offers sun, sand, entertainment, and great food? Don’t put off that urge to get away.
A vacation in Aruba offers these options and more in a nice sunny atmosphere.
A Summer vacation in Aruba may be the place for you to enjoy a different, out-of-the-ordinary vacation.
Unlike much of the Caribbean region, Aruba has a dry climate and an arid, cactus-strewn landscape.
This climate has helped tourism since visitors to the island can reliably expect warm sunny weather. Aruba lies outside the hurricane belt.
Located approximately four and a half hours by air from New York, you can wing your way to a tropical paradise and hit the beach upon arrival. The Americana Aruba Beach Resort and Casino is only three miles from Oranjestad airport.
The hotel is nestled further inland than most hotels, which decreases the amount of wind that is usually associated with Palm Beach. That’s Palm Beach in Aruba and not Florida!
Some Aruba Facts
Capital: Oranjestad (largest city)
Area: 74.5 sq mi (193 sq km)
Population: 2007 estimate 104,494
Official languages: Dutch, Papiamento (Spanish and English are also spoken)
The Americana Aruba Beach Resort rooms are wonderful and the hotel has amenities as a pool, Jacuzzi, and open air dining with entertainment. You can settle in and never stray far from your hotel and still enjoy the benefits it has to offer. Moreover, the people of Aruba are quite friendly.
If you prefer, you can take a day trip by taxi into town and do a little shopping for gifts and souvenirs. Or you can venture out to Oranjestad’s harbor where you can find bargains galore.
Aruba Vacation: Things to do in Aruba

I spent an amazing week in Aruba. If you’re looking for a place with beautiful beaches, many activities and friendly people, look no further than Aruba. The tiny island is not in the path of hurricanes, and can be budget friendly during the low season (April-October).
Imported and Local Items are Available
It should be noted, however, that most of the items you find in stores are imported. But, you can still purchase beautiful handcrafted items such as pottery, linens, crystal, jewelry, and richly colored fabrics as well.
If you wish to enjoy a change of pace there are plenty of restaurants in Aruba. There is everything from ribs at Smokey Joe’s to seafood at Chalet Suisse or restaurants located in hotels along the beach.
The Americana Aruba has oceanfront and poolside dining as well as entertainment at the Garden Brazilian Lounge.
Sightseeing Alone or Take a Tour
If you care to venture out for some sightseeing, and you should, you can sign up for a tour to Aruba’s Natural Bridge which is one of more well-known attractions. Made of coral, the bridge is 25 feet high and 100 feet long.
You may also like to visit the Aruba Aloe Factory where you can witness firsthand how aloe is produced. Afterward, you can shop at their outlet and purchase some aloe as well.
One of the nice things about Aruba is that it is very safe. If you are traveling alone, you can take a trip to town via the local bus that stops in front of your hotel. Or you can sign up with the local tour company to visit museums, a butterfly or ostrich farm.
Great Food, entertainment,and Shopping
You can also visit Arikok National Park. That is where ancient Arawak drawings have been found. You might even come across the Divi-divi, a large and unusual shrub native to Aruba.
Great food, entertainment, rest, relaxation, shopping, and a bit of sightseeing will make your summer vacation in Aruba a most memorable one.
Aruba is a nice getaway for a few days if you live near or on the east coast.
If you live further away stay a little longer or visit some of the other Caribbean Islands. Anyway you figure it don’t pass up an opportunity to vacation in Aruba.
