“Don’t try and change Molokai’i, let Molokai’i change you!” Beautiful landscape, beautiful beaches, friendly people.
Molokai has always been considered a place of magic from very early times. It was created when two major volcanoes pushed their way out of the Pacific Ocean some million years or more ago. Over time, part of what had developed fell into the ocean as a result. That left behind the mighty sea cliffs that are renowned in Molokai. These sea cliffs are the highest in the entire United States.
Molokai is Frindly and Slightly Underdeveloped
Molokai is one of the smallest of the six main Hawaiian Islands. Strangely enough, the island as small as it is, has two different legendary sections. One is extremely dry and the other is high plateaus and plush rain forests.
Although the island is slightly underdeveloped, it is a very friendly place. The island is a remote and rather secluded place to visit.
National Geographic Traveler magazine and the National Geographic Center for Sustainable Destinations conduct annual Destination Scorecard surveys. They are aided by George Washington University.

Molokai ranked 10th among the 111 locales. The survey cited Molokai’s pristine, breathtaking tropical landscape and environmental stewardship. Plus its rich and deep Hawaiian traditions, and visitor-friendly culture. The neighbor islands Hawaii, Kauai, Maui and Oahu, ranked 50, 61, 81 and 104, respectively. Tahiti ranked 57.
Long ago settlers migrated from the South Pacific to Molokai. They migrated here in hopes of seeking wisdom and advice. There is a rich sense of spirituality and religious history among the natives. They still hold very strongly to what their ancestors stood for.
