The High Cost of Air Travel
By Charles L Harmon
Normally we don’t think about the high cost of air travel but many of us feel stressed out when we fill up our vehicles because the gas prices are higher than they have been in the recent past, if ever. Everything seems to be going up because most things are delivered by truck, including gasoline. This includes aviation fuel for airplanes.
The high gasoline costs might affect your vacation if you chose air travel, as planes need aviation fuel, which is even higher octane than car gasoline. You may think that the airlines take a big hit when it comes to gas prices. I think they do since they use so much fuel. Many are operating at a loss as it is, and the escalating gas prices are definitely not helping them one bit.
The high cost of air travel keeps going up even though it is usually already high. Many airlines are forced to cut some of their flights simply because it’s too expensive to fly them. They may be flights that aren’t always full and are not cost effective flying them. This problem with air travel could put a big dent in your summer vacation or other flight plans.
Canceling flights may not be a problem for you, but buying tickets for air travel is going to hurt in some cases due to higher costs of air travel, maybe much higher costs. The airlines raise some prices in order to continue offering those flights. Keep that in mind for your next flight, or when making your holiday plans for winter. When it comes to air travel, you can usually save money by booking ahead of time. Do it as early as possible so that your price is lower.
Don’t let the high prices scare you away from your vacation if you really want to go. If you are on a tight budget there are still ways you can get better deals on air travel. You have to know where to look. You can use the same online sites that you may have used in the past to get good deals on air travel and other things like hotel and car rentals. If you don’t know of such sites do a quick Google search for — discount air tickets.
You can also start being more thrifty or look for savings in other areas to help take the sting out of the high cost of air travel. Don’t forget package deals that may include air fares if that can apply to you. If you fly on a regular basis or even once in a while join a frequent flyer club for eventually more savings. Also pay attention to those airline plane fare specials so often mentioned on TV.
